Coverage highlights:

  • Third-party liability — Covers third-party property damage and bodily injury legal liability.
  • Premises liability — Covers liability arising in or about any premises used in connection with the storage or use of the drone.
  • Medical and related expenses — Offers coverage for all reasonable expenses incurred within one year from the date of an occurrence for necessary medical, surgical, ambulance, hospital, professional nursing, repatriation, and funeral expenses to or for each person who sustains bodily injury.
  • Personal injury — Indemnifies the insured for various offences when committed in connection with the aviation operations. Some of the most common offences are libel, slander, and restraint.
  • Open pilot warranty — No restrictions on pilots, subject to meeting Transport Canada requirements.

While most fixed and rotor wing drones are automatically approved for coverage, drones with a hull value over CA$100,000 or used in environments requiring a special flight operations certificate (SFOC) will need further review.

Our open pilot warranty policy offers no restrictions on pilots, subject to them being licensed by Transport Canada and abiding by their requirements.

To be covered on your drone policy, BVLOS operations must be disclosed and added to your policy wording.

Yes, however, if you have a SFOC, you must inform us prior to operating your drone. We will then confirm if the activity is covered or if an adjustment must be made.
