A New Day on Campus: The Final Title IX Regulations

The U.S. Department of Education issued its new Title IX regulations on sexual harassment on May 6, 2020. These new regulations mark a historic change in Title IX law. The new rules continue to emphasize that Title IX prohibits sexual harassment in education programs and activities and provide specific rules for how colleges, universities and K-12 must address sexual harassment. 

Marsh, together with Hogan Marren Babbo & Rose, Ltd., held a webcast to assist your institution in understanding the changes required by the new regulations and learn about the key elements of these regulations and how to prepare for the August 14, 2020 effective date.  

The discussion provided an overview of the major changes and requirements in these regulations, including the following provisions:  deliberate indifference, revised sexual harassment definition, dismissal, standards of evidence, hearings and other new procedural requirements, due process, bias and conflict of interest, appeals and recordkeeping.
