What is the difference between All Risks and Fire Insurance policies in the market?

The All Risks policy (i.e. Marsh’s Office Protect) covers your movable assets (including law books and documents), whereas the mandatory Fire policy insures your immovable assets, for example, the building, fixtures and fittings.

Can I customise my Office Protect coverage?

Yes, the coverage allows you to have a mix of policies to purchase under Office Protect, by pairing Fire policy, which is mandatory with optional covers such as All Risks, Burglary, Money and Fidelity Guarantee, Employers and Public Liability, Personal Accident, and Plate Glass and Electronic Equipment.

What are some of the key terms and conditions that I should be aware of?

  • You must give all the facts in your application form fully and faithfully.
  • You must ensure that your property is insured at the appropriate amount.

Does the policy cover all branch offices of the firm?

The insurance policy will cover all premises stated in the policy schedule.

How do I make a claim?

Step 1: Send an email to NMMarshSME@bsompo.com.my and loss adjusters will be appointed, if necessary.

Step 2: Take measures to minimise the loss and preserve the affected items for survey by loss adjusters.

Step 3: Co-operate with the loss adjusters (if adjusters are involved). Submit the completed claims form and supporting documents.

Step 4: Insurer’s assessment.

Step 5: A discharge voucher is issued for an approved claim. The claimant will sign and return the discharge voucher. Payment will be issued via E-claim.
