The cyber insurance process

selected option

Complete our digital submission, the Cyber Self-Assessment (CSA). Insurers value this questionnaire and will reward completion by offering enhanced terms and premium savings.

You can complete an assessment with your internal team, and your Marsh advisor is there to support if needed. Each assessment will enable you to get an exclusive quote.

Following completion of the assessment, your information is securely sent to our panel of facility insurers who will provide quotes. Your Marsh advisor will then guide you through all your options to ensure that you receive the best coverage and services — and sparing you from complicated jargon.

We compare the quotes and provide you with a comprehensive comparison of coverages and risk consultancy services. This allows you to make an informed decision. Our recommendation will be based on this thorough review, providing you with clear reasoning behind our choice.

Accepting the quote — but this is not the end. At Marsh we are committed to helping you on your cyber resilience journey. Whether you need ongoing guidance, support with implementing cybersecurity solutions or measures, or advice on evolving threats, we are just a phone call or email away.

How does the assessment work?

We offer clients the option to choose from three assessment options: Limited, Essential, and Standard.

These options vary in terms of simplicity and level of detail. The more detailed versions of the tool unlock access to Marsh’s advanced analytics, which can help improve your risk profile.

  1. Cybersecurity maturity rating: Evaluates maturity for the five functions established by the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
  2. Top cybersecurity controls analysis: Provides a clear rating for each top cybersecurity control your organisation has implemented based on how it would be perceived by insurance carriers.
  3. Bespoke loss modelling: Provides scaled loss modelling based on industry and revenue for ransomware, cyber business interruption, and privacy breach events. Cyber insurance strategies can be applied to the generated losses to evaluate each strategy’s performance and to inform your insurance purchasing decisions.
  4. Top cybersecurity controls and maturity peer benchmarking: Compares your cybersecurity maturity and top cybersecurity controls analysis ratings against industry peers who have also completed the Cyber Self-Assessment.
