Meet Deeksha

I am part of the India Client Service Practice of Marsh India and am based in Mumbai. I have completed 9 years with Marsh India and can say have never had a dull day at work. My profile involves advising large Indian MNC clients on their risk exposure in India and overseas. I have a team of ten talented individuals who help me manage my clients and together we offer the clients the best of our services. Additionally I am also leading a new practice, the Korea Client Service for Marsh India. In this role i work closely with our Marsh Korea colleagues.

How has your education or previous work experience translated to working at Marsh?

Before joining Marsh, I had worked with India s largest private sector insurance company for almost a decade. There I learnt to work under pressure and taken ownership of our clients. This is a very important lesson which I have learnt from my previous work experience and which is the mantra follow to the T.

We need to take ownership of our clients and go all out to deliver the best to them. I truly believe that in the MMC world, one can find the solution to every requirement / challenge from our clients – whether coverage related, placement related, claim related or advisory related. We just need to reach out and connect and the answer will be found.

What do you do to make others feel included and create an environment of belonging?

Have worked for almost 2 decades now, I have realise that our work place is our second family as perhaps at times, we spend more hours interacting with our teams, clients and business partners.

As a team leader I try and keep my team close knit and foster a culture of trust, where we have each other’s back. We all make mistakes at times, but important is owning those mistakes, learning from them and not repeating them. I also try and delegate responsibility to the team members also give them accountability. And always appreciate work done well. It gives me immense satisfaction to have grown from a 2 members team to a 12 member high performing team today.

In 2023 I look forward living by the motto “Work Hard and Party Harder” and celebrate the teams wins and accomplishments.

Tell us something important about your family or background that helped form the person and colleague you are today.

My father and mother both are retired academicians based in Delhi. So my brother and I were brought up in an environment which highly valued education excellence. I was encouraged to pursue higher education of my choice in areas which stimulated me. I had a flair for numbers & business and hence I did by B COM (Hons) followed by a Master’s Degree in Finance, both from University of Delhi. I saw my mom as a career women, who from a teacher of Home Science was elevated to a positon to the Principal of her school. So “working hard”,  “giving it your best shot” were lessons I learnt early at home. Same is the spirit I carry to my work place. I try and deliver my best to our clients and motivate my team also to deliver their very best and carry a “Never say Die Attitude”
